Buying breakfast & cereals on special
Cereal is one of the most heavily promoted categories in Australian supermarkets, to the point where the full shelf price on a big-brand box is close to notional — most boxes sell on some kind of promotion. Half price is the floor, and it comes around often.
Boxes keep for months unopened, so this is a straightforward stockpile category. Muesli bars and breakfast biscuits are worth the same treatment if they are in your regular rotation. Compare the per-100g price rather than the per-box price: cereal box sizes vary far more than they appear to, and a smaller box at half price is sometimes still worse value than a large box at full price.
